British Flowers Week

15th – 19th June

The annual celebration of seasonal, locally-grown flowers and foliage aims to spark public and media interest in where our flowers come from and the value of locally-grown, freshly cut flowers.

Sustainable Merton, of course, encourage that you grow your own in the garden or window boxes, but if you are buying flowers, please do steer clear of those shipped by air. Imported flowers are likely to consume water and other resources in far off places, which would benefit the local population much more if they were used to grow food or provide drinking water etc.
