London Tree Week 2014 takes place from 24th – 31st May and aims to celebrate the importance and wonders of the capital’s trees. Lots of events will be taking place throughout the week, including guided tree identification walks and woodcraft workshops. Pop up forests will also appear in shopping centres, with the trees later being planted locally to help green the community.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, is backing the initiative as part of his work to deliver 100,000 more trees in the capital. He states that projects such as this help make our city a ‘greener and more enjoyable place’, and that he will continue supporting schemes that encourage people to get involved in green activities.

During the week, Londoners will also be able to enjoy the 4,329 new street trees planted across 23 boroughs as part of the Mayor’s Street Tree initiative.
