Love Parks Week 2016 is a celebration of all of the amazing parks and green spaces in the UK and encourages people to get outside and be more active.

 

Local parks are so important as they are for anyone and everyone to enjoy and #LoveParks Week 2016 celebrates the hard work done to protect and improve them. Here are some ways to make the most out of your local green spaces.

  • Take a daily stroll around you local park. You can push the pram or walk the dog or enjoy the scenery. A daily walk is a great way to relax and stay healthy.
  • Cancel your gym membership and exercise at the park instead. You can enjoy a jog or run at your local park or find a park with an outdoor gym where you can exercise for free in the fresh air. Merton has a number of parks with free outdoor exercise equipment, including Morden Park, Figges Marsh and Pollards Hill recreation Ground.   • Many local parks also have free tennis courts, basketball courts, ping pong tables, or are a great place to take a bike ride.
  • When the weather is warm, go along to one of your local paddling pools or interactive water areas. These provide free fun and entertainment for children and are a good way to cool down in hot weather. Find your local paddling pool in Merton and see the opening times HERE>>>
