Sustainable Merton is partnering the London Sustainability Exchange in an air pollution busting project which covers the boroughs of Merton and Richmond.

The two local Councils and local groups from Cycle Training UK are also taking part in the project which is targeting local businesses and encouraging more cycling.

Sustainable Merton will be monitoring air quality (NO2 levels) in 10 new locations in Merton and attending events to engage business employees in the project. We expect to use our new air quality meter to measure particulate levels. A survey will try and identify reasons people don’t currently cycle to work, to which the cycling organisations will attempt to find solutions. To date no research has been done on the extent to which air pollution affects people’s attitudes to cycling. Urban cycling skills sessions will be offered to participants.
