Solar Together London

Power your home through solar energy

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has published his Solar Action Plan, which outlines his ambition for more of London’s energy to be generated by solar technology. It is estimated that schemes like Solar Together could more than double London’s current solar energy capacity.

In partnership with the Mayor, Merton has been joined by 10 other London boroughs, all working together using group buying to unlock significant savings from suppliers.

Solar Together brings together households and local government to get high-quality solar panels at a highly competitive price. As a Merton resident, you can register your interest in having solar panels installed on your home through the scheme.

Phase 3 is now closed

Please check the GLA website for updates.

How does it work?

1) Registration

Register for free when the next round opens (details will be updated on our website). You need provide details of your roof, like its size and position. The more people that register, the better the deal for each household. Registration does not commit you to anything.

2) Auction

An auction is held where pre-vetted installers submit their lowest prices.  Your personalised offer: following the auction you will be contacted with a personalised offer, based on the specifications of your roof. This includes your costs and specification of your solar panel installation.

3) You decide

The decision is then yours as to whether you want to accept your offer. There is no obligation to continue.

4) Installation

If you accept the offer, the winning supplier will contact you to schedule a survey of your roof and set an installation date.

Why get solar panels?

Generating your own energy

Generating your own energy can help to increase your energy independence, cut your energy costs and reduce your impact on the environment.

Renewable energy source

The sun is a clean and unlimited source of energy, unlike finite fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal.

Reduce CO2 emissions

With solar panels you contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and a sustainable future.

Save money

Solar panels are a good investment. With your own solar panels you can save on your energy bills and even earn money for the excess solar energy you generate.

"Solar PV seemed like the right thing to do;   it's  my own small  contribution to reducing emissions  and helps me to  be more self-sufficient by generating my own energy."
