Hedge planting at Mitcham Orchard

On 31st October, 42 volunteers braved the wind and rain to help plant around 400 hedgerow whips (hazel, dog rose, elder and blackthorn) donated by the Woodland Trust.

Congratulations to Mitcham Community Orchard & Gardens team for organising such a successful community event and a big thank you to everyone who came along to help, including local residents, NCS The Challenge volunteers, Merton Council representatives and members of the Sustainable Merton team.

The MCOG team and Sustainable Merton also send our special thanks to Merton Council for the provision of compost and mulch, Michelle and Julie for their delicious homemade soup and to Giles and Jon for the wonderful BBQ and fireworks!

Another great day at the orchard!
