Community Fridge Coordinator
Sustainable Merton, Merton's local environmental charity, is seeking a Community Fridge Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of Merton's Community Fridge.
We are looking for an individual who is proactive, vigilant, and passionate about fostering fair and connected communities, while also demonstrating a keen interest in reducing food waste.
About Merton's Community Fridge:
Situated at Morden Baptist Church, with additional storage facilities available at Morden Civic Centre, Merton's Community Fridge provides a welcoming and accessible space where surplus food, generously donated by businesses and residents, is redistributed to the community, with a particular focus on addressing food insecurity. The Fridge was established in Spring 2020 and now serves approximately 180 to 200 individuals weekly.
About the Role:
The Community Fridge Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the effective coordination of all aspects related to the Fridge's operations. This includes maintaining regular communication with volunteers, devising weekly and monthly rotas, spearheading volunteer recruitment efforts, overseeing data collection and entry, and managing the inventory of donated food items.
