Sustainable Merton was a key partner in supporting and promoting Merton Council’s Mega Recycle - an initiative that was designed to encourage residents to increase their recycling from 39% to more than 42.5% by 2016.

 

Everyone who signed up was entered into a prize draw and eleven households were randomly selected each month, with one winning £250 and the other ten receiving £100! Prizes were also won by primary schools and communities living on estates or in blocks of flats for their recycling efforts.

 

Many homes received Mega Recycle packages containing registration forms to complete, as well as a stickers to number their recycling box and one to remind residents what can be recycled recycle. Residents were also encourage to pledge to correctly recycle as much waste as possible!
