Welcome to our community textiles hub - where creativity meets sustainability!
The Preloved Studio is on a mission to reduce textile waste, save money, and give old clothes new life.
Since launching in May 2023 at Canons House, Mitcham, The Preloved Studio has been hosting drop-in sewing sessions, creative workshops and community events that empower people to mend, upcycle, and reimagine their wardrobes – building a more circular fashion future together.
The Preloved Studio also offers residencies at Canons House for local, slow fashion and textile reuse start-up businesses, supporting innovation in circular design.
Whether you're repairing, creating, or just curious, come join our friendly community!
The Preloved Studio is brought to you as part of The Wheel – Sustainable Merton's waste reduction and circular economy project.

COMMUNITY
WORKSHOPS
At the Preloved Studio, we host hands-on workshops led by skilled facilitators, designed to help you build confidence and creativity with textiles.
Past sessions have included Sewing Machine 101, Creative Mending, and Basic Alterations – with more always on the way.
On request, we also offer bespoke private workshops and corporate volunteering workshops.
Interested in donating pre-loved fabrics or haberdashery? Looking into corporate volunteering or private workshops? We’d love to hear from you.
We pride ourselves on helping the community make their clothes and textile items last a little longer — whether through repairs, alterations, or the use of pre-loved fabrics to keep materials circulating within the circular economy.
Through all activities at the Preloved Studio during 2025–2026, together we successfully saved 348kg of textile waste from landfill — equivalent to preventing 1,142kg of CO2 emissions.
These achievements would not have been possible without our community embracing repair, reuse, and sustainability by making use of our space.
Watch this video, produced by Shine Camera Saturday Club, to see the studio in action and hear young voices sharing their perspectives on sustainability. This workshop was made possible thanks to the support of SUEZ and the South Waste Partnership:
