Dig for victory

This Spring/Summer, Sustainable Merton is be a part of the HYPER project – a calendar of creative events supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund for young people to explore local communities during the 1940’s.

Sow, Grow & Harvest - Phipps Bridge Community Garden, Saturdays 10 - 1

In partnership with HYPER, Sustainable Merton invites residents to join us at our flagship community garden to LEARN PRACTICAL SKILLS, GROW YOUR OWN FOOD and GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY, as local people would have done during the war effort.

What’s involved?

LEARN how to sow seeds, plant small plants and weed and water your crops

IDENTIFY all common fruits and vegetables and how to crop them when ready.

EXPLORE plant life cycles, composting, wormeries and how to feed the soil.

DISCOVER the many benefits of a healthy, homegrown diet.

Feel free to drop-in for an hour, or join for the full session – every pair of hands count!

Tools and equipment are provided, but do wear old clothes & sturdy shoes.

Each session will end with refreshments.

All ages welcome, but children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult
