Protect Mitcham Orchard:
A lifeline for community, nature & wellbeing

A greenspace people rely on.

For more than ten years, Mitcham Community Orchard & Gardens has been a place where people come to feel better, connect with others, and spend time in nature.

For many of our volunteers, the orchard provides something essential — a reason to get out, meet others, and feel part of something meaningful.

Help people find community & connection

through teamwork and shared purpose

Our entrance gate is broken, fencing is failing, and sheds are leaking — and our funds are low.

Without urgent repairs, the orchard could become unsafe, inaccessible, and fall into decline. Tools, equipment, and the space itself are vulnerable to theft, vandalism, and damage.

Over time, fewer volunteers, less maintenance, and declining biodiversity could threaten this vital community space.

A new gate and fencing aren’t just repairs — they protect everything and give volunteers confidence that the orchard is safe and cared for.

Why this Orchard matters.

Without this space, people would lose a regular place to go, a supportive community, and access to nature close to home.

Mitcham Community Orchard brings together people of all ages and backgrounds — local residents experiencing loneliness or isolation, those looking to improve their mental wellbeing, volunteers building confidence and skills, and families introducing children to nature and sustainability.
