Meet our new Interim CEO

In my first week as Interim CEO I am so excited to be involved with Sustainable Merton. As someone who knows Merton well, I am already proud to be associated with an organisation that is striving to make a difference to the world we live in.

I will be in post whilst Tom Walsh takes a period of leave. Find out more about me and my background below. Tom will continue to share his amazing knowledge of sustainability through regular blogs and articles – see his latest views on the importance of grass roots organisations in bringing big policy to local communities – “Reflecting on COP23”

We have our annual Christmas Social on 6th December so I hope to meet some of you there as well as in the months ahead in the many activities we lead on or get involved with. Our AGM has just been set for 15th March, so please make a note in your diaries, and more information to follow.

Diana Sterck is a Chartered Marketer, specialising in strategic marketing and marketing communications. She has over 20 year’s experience of working in public/private sector partnerships and has also run her own marketing consultancy business.

Diana has been Chief Executive of Merton Chamber of Commerce since 2001 and fulfils this job on 3 days a week. It is a social enterprise and is currently the largest area based Chamber of Commerce in London. Diana has developed the business to offer a broad range of enterprise support services for businesses across South London. This includes the Take One campaign, something she initiated personally through her long standing experience of vocational training and a desire to help young people get on in the world of work. Diana was also instrumental in winning over £500,000 of government funding to work with businesses on “going green” and sustainability. The project she initiated ran for 7 years in 5 London boroughs.

Diana is co-Chair of Merton’s Sustainable Communities and Transport theme group and the Economic Wellbeing Group.

Diana has been a long term supporter of the amazing work done by Sustainable Merton and has a personal passion for supporting local communities to work together to achieve a better environment. She is a lover of trees, plants and gardens and all things “green”!
