Public Health Team Volunteer Day!

On 30th September, Merton Council’s Public Health Team joined Sustainable Merton at Lavender Avenue Community Gardens for a sunny morning’s work on the site.

Merton Council employees are encouraged to participate in two days of volunteering throughout the year and we are delighted that the team decided to spend some of this time ‘growing communities’ as part of the Dig Merton project.

The volunteers were enthusiastic and did a fantastic job tackling weeds, harvesting the last of the crops and clearing the gardens in preparation for our upcoming Family Action Days.

Courgettes, potatoes, squashes and beans were amongst the vegetables picked and taken home by our hardworking helpers.

We’d like to say a big thank you to the Public Health Team for joining us and to AGS (All Gardening Services) for coming along to collect the green waste cleared from the gardens.
