We are delighted to be working with residents of The Meadows Estate, Mitcham, to help make their environment a little greener, as part of the Dig Merton Project.
On 31st October, more than 20 residents joined Merton Councillor Joan Henry and Nollaig (Friends of Mitcham Common) to help plant up the entrance and the beds at Heath, Orchid Clover and Oak Lodge.
Despite the poor weather, the day was a great success and everyone got stuck in! Thanks to the hard work of the volunteers, residents are now looking forward to a very colourful and textured garden in the months ahead.
Dig Merton Project Leader – Michelle was on hand to provide tools, advice, health and safety and, as always, did a wonderful job encouraging and guiding volunteers.
A big congratulations to all involved for making such a great start on this project and a huge well done to Paulette who organised the whole event – she’s a true community champion!
There’s already talk of planting a community herb garden in the spring… and we look forward to being a part of the continuing transformation!
