About The Event
Team up with Sustainable Merton's Community Champions as we roll up our sleeves and get to work cleaning up an area of the borough in need of some tlc. We'll be collecting and sorting recyclables and stopping plastic pollution at source!
As the borough's leading environmental charity, we are calling on Merton's #WasteWarriors, and supporters of our #PlasticFreeMerton campaign, to join forces with our Community Champions as we take action to clean up the plastic waste and litter which finds its way from our streets to our oceans, killing marine life.
Two-thirds of the plastic blighting our blue planet comes from land sources. If we fail to act now, there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish by 2050.
Keep's Britain Tidy's national Great British Spring Clean month will see thousands of litter heroes coming together across the country to clean up the litter pollution that degrades the beauty of our environment and threatens to harm wildlife.
