About The Event
Join Tree Folk Collective on a community walk through Mitcham Community Orchard to learn more about our tree neighbours, their leaves and blossoms, and the folklore that connects us.
We’ll be exploring the flowering trees at the orchard, sharing how to identify each tree species, and delving into their links to ancient Gods, spirits, and magic superstitions.
This event is facilitated by Tree Folk Collective in partnership with Sustainable Merton and is free to attend. You are encouraged to bring along your camera or a phone to take pictures of trees we encounter on the walk.
About Tree Folk Collective
Tree Folk Collective is Maribel Bennett Greig and Franki Appleton, two orchardists with a passion for folklore, plant-lore, and caring for trees. Their study of fruit tree identification and community orchard management brought them together, and they both regularly volunteer at Mitcham Community Orchard as Fruit Tree Stewards.
