About The Event

This is event is part of our new 'Weekly Web Chats' virtual video series.

Presenter: Yanika Borg, Sustainable Merton Community Champion and eXXpedition 2019 crew member

What's it about? Did you know that by 2050 it’s estimated that there will be more plastic by weight in the sea than fish?

Yanika Borg sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in November 2019 to carry out ocean plastic research. It was the adventure of a lifetime; tough, fun and eye-opening. In this talk, she will tell us all about her trip. This talk will present the sobering facts on ocean plastic pollution but ends on a positive note – there’s much we can do, but we need to get moving.

Our 'Weekly Web Chats'

Whilst we are physically distanced, we want to stay socially connected with the Merton community and keep the important conversations around sustainability and the Climate Emergency going.

Through weekly online Zoom web chats, we aim to create a space for all of us to connect, talk, share positive stories, and learn about a variety of topics, with local people sharing their knowledge and practical sustainable actions.
