Community Champion Sophie joined Sustainable Merton to meet like-minded people and help encourage awareness and action on local sustainability issues. She is now one of our Waste Team Representatives and, over the past year, has been helping to champion our 'reduce, reuse, refill, recycle' message. Here, she tells us more...
"This last year I have gotten the opportunity through Sustainable Merton to help write a Waste Handbook, as well as a blog on 'Creative ways to reuse and upcycle'. I was already on my waste reduction journey, but through this work I have been able to learn more hints and tips about reducing waste as well as becoming more aware of amazing schemes that are in place to help with this goal on a local level such as Refill.org. It makes me more passionate to continue to reduce my own waste and to keep learning more about the subject that is so important for a sustainable future for everyone."
