New, free and fun local Walk and Talks are launching soon in the local area

The Walk and Talk Movement is on a mission to bring people together in a fun, healthy and engaging way.

The not-for-profit community interest company wants to help thousands of people reconnect with their local community after the terrible pandemic we have all suffered from.

They provide free and fun weekly community walks every Saturday at 10.30am in local green spaces. This is a chance for all generations to take a stroll, chat, meet friends and neighbours, make new friends and help each other. From older adults to young children, from buggies to beagles – everybody can join in.

New local friends have been made, neighbours who didn't know each other have met for the first time, people who have been isolated or who have suffered losses during the pandemic have reconnected. The Walk and Talk Movement's mission is to put smiles on faces every week.

Walk and Talks are always free, very welcoming, fully inclusive and accessible. The Walk and Talk Movement, supported by Merton Council and Merton Giving, connects with local community groups to provide interesting guest talks and activities, and to support the health and happiness of Merton's fast growing community.

There is already a very popular and growing Walk and Talk in Wimbledon Park starting from near the park cafe every Saturday at 10.30am. The Local Champion for Wimbledon Park is Anita - wimbledonpark@walkandtalkmovement.org.

In the last few months, during and after the Walk and Talks, they have done everything from tree planting, crown green bowling, met a Womble, visited Wimbledon tennis and much much more...

Walking is great for your health, wellbeing and the environment so why not switch the car ride commute for a stroll to the bus/train stop or enjoy some family time and fresh air on the walk to school.
