Join the Refill Revolution
Brought to you by Sustainable Merton as part of the national award-winning Refill scheme by City to Sea, Refill Merton aims to disrupt the social norm of buying bottled water on-the-go and make carrying a reusable bottle the new normal.

Save money, stay hydrated and help prevent plastic pollution at source.
How does Refill work?
Research shows that despite more people than ever carrying reusable water bottles, over 71% of us feel uncomfortable asking for a refill if we’re not buying something at the same time.
Through the Refill App, Refill empowers people to ask for free tap water by connecting them with businesses where this is welcomed. By displaying a window sticker, Merton residents can easily identify friendly local Refill Stations.

Refilling your water bottle has never been easier!

Refill Merton on the map

Tackling waste and overconsumption is a primary pillar of action at Sustainable Merton. Through our #PlasticFreeMerton campaign, we aim to inspire local people to take action and we're excited to make Refill a part of the solution.
There are already over 50 Refill Stations in Merton, but more work needs to be done. Through Refill Merton, Sustainable Merton will connect these businesses, raise public awareness, and spread the campaign to underrepresented areas.

Thanks to our amazing Refill Stations and people like you - everyone, everywhere can simply tap the app to find fresh, drinking water on the go.

By using the Refill App and saying no to single-use plastic, you are helping to protect our oceans, combating climate change, and saving money all at the same time.
Join our team of Refill Champions

To join Refill Merton as a volunteer, residents are encouraged to register with Sustainable Merton as a Refill Champion. As a Refill Champion, you can get involved by taking part in Refill action days, awareness-raising at events, sharing your plastic-free journey and Refill experience through blog writing and, as the Refill initiative grows, supporting our team by taking on a coordination role.
To find out more about Refill Merton or to get involved, you can contact Local Champion Amy at refillmerton@sustainablemerton.org.

Become a Refill Station

If you’re a business with a publicly accessible, stand-alone cold water tap, then all you need to do is provide a few details to create your free profile on the Refill map. Once your Refill Station is live, you’ll be ready to welcome thirsty refillers and benefit from increased exposure and footfall as a result.

By signing up as a Refill Station you’ll be helping to keep Britain hydrated and free of plastic pollution.
